Triple Celebration Party, December 2010
Almost half our members were scheduled to attend our big December celebration – and then the snow came, ruling out many of our more distant members. Nevertheless, more than 25 of us braved the snow, helped by a rapidly rescheduled early start, and walked or drove to Liz and Malcolm’s house to celebrate the end of our 20th walking season, the completing of the Capital Ring, and Mike S’s 70th birthday. Food and venue by courtesy of Liz and Malcolm and wine by courtesy of Tina, with guests making donations to the NSPCC, Mike’s chosen charity.
The billiard room was decorated for Christmas and with all the Capital Ring routes and photos. Sadly, only Mike and Tina have completed all eight legs of the Ring, but plans are already afoot to allow others to get together and fill in the gaps.
There were no fewer than three cakes to mark this momentous occasions, and, of course, a hand-crafted card from Ray on behalf of us all (some parts reproduced below).
