January Day Walk: Redbournbury
It was a fine, crisp, frosty morning and the SAR membership turned out in force for the first Sunday walk of the year. We met Nick's new dog, Mr Oliver Cockerpoodle, who, I'm glad to say rushed about with the same enthusiasm as his predecessor.
Twenty-six of us and four dogs set off at a brisk pace from Batchwood car park across the frosty golf course to join the Ver Valley walk to Redbourn via Redbournbury Mill.
From Redbourn we joined the Nicky line, turning off before Harpenden to follow the route through Rothamstead to the rose garden in the park where we stopped for lunch. After a welcome break we followed footpaths across Harpenden Common and the golf course to reach Childwickbury before returning to Batchwood.
