September Day Walk: Much Hadham
An interesting walk through some of east Hertfordhire's prettiest villages. Starting from Much Hadham, we travel to Green Tye for morning tea before reaching Perry Green, home to the late Henry Moore. We will get a glimpse of some of his work as we head to Widford and lunch at the Green Man, also visiting St John the Baptist Church with its murals that predate 1300. Then back along the rive Ash through woodland and some interesting architecture at Hadham Cross to Much Hadham for well earned refreshment in the sheltered courtyard of the Old Bull. Around 9 miles.

Capital Ring Stage 3
On Saturday the walk continues from Crystal Palace to Streatham and Wandsworth. The distance is about 10 miles and the route includes several parks and commons. There is also a link to Charles Dickens who lived in this area and wrote David Copperfield here.
On Sunday the route runs from Wimbledon to Osterly and marks the furthest west of our journey. Amongst the features on the way are the Wimbledon Common Windmill and the chance to see Queens Mere, a haunt of the Wombles. The walk goes through Richmond Deer Park and ends at Osterly, a total distance of about 11 miles.

Gradbach, Peak District
The Youth Hostel is a former Flax Mill and farmhouse in secluded grounds on the banks of the River Dane, just south of Buxton. The hostel will cater for our breakfasts and evening meals on Saturday and Sunday, but we shall make our own packed lunches. Accommodation will be in six-bed rooms.
On the Saturday we shall walk direct from the hostel to the gritstone edge of the Roaches (approx 10 miles) that forms the dramatic western edge of the Peak District. On the Sunday another 10 miles about the Dane River, For those staying over on Monday there will be the chance for a shorter walk on the Monday taking in Three Shires Head where Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire all meet.
The cost of three night's accommodation with breakfast and dinner provided by the hostel and our usual DIY packed lunch will be around £110. The hostel has no more beds at present, though some may be released to us due to cancellations, so let Peter know if you would like to be on the reserve list.
