Albury & Ivinghoe Beacon Ralph and Diane led a group of 14 of us on a really enjoyable walk beginning at Aldbury and wending our way up the chalky uplands over the ridge to Ivinghoe Beacon, taking in beautiful views over the vale of Aylesbury then on through the wooded Ashridge estate and the Bridgewater monument and eventually ending the day dropping back down into Aldbury. Shortly after commencing the walk, we were met by over 600 runners who were taking part in the Ridgeway Run! The day was very windy, but warm and dry and a perfect day for walking. We also met a group from Leighton Buzzard ramblers who were interested in finding out about walks around St Albans – perhaps we'll gain some new members! Indeed the route was extremely popular on Sunday with lots of walkers, dogs and of course, all the runners, some of whom looked like they might have some trouble finishing the course! Many thanks Ralph and Diane: we all had a great day!
